Resident Librarian
Tom Seley
Welcome to the Pierce Library! I grew up in Michigan among a family of readers that fostered my love of reading from an early age. Books were always a topic of conversation over dinner and with family friends and relatives. After high school, I attended the University of Michigan, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. After college, I taught English conversation in Japan for two years and then first grade in Detroit for a year.
Since then I have worked at BPS for 18 years, so this is my 22nd year of teaching. I earned my Masters of Library and Information Science from Wayne State in 2007. Each year, I read 100 books to learn, grow, and keep up with trends in library science, the publishing industry and education. My favorite things are helping people, teaching, learning, reading, music, and coffee. See you in the library!
